On the Run with Bonnie & Clyde by John Gilmore

ON THE RUN WITH BONNIE & CLYDE, John Gilmore, AMOK Books, 19.95, 366 pages, ISBN: 978187923226, reviewed by Barry Hunter.

The main thing about this book is no matter what you have heard about Bonnie & Clyde in movies and other writing, certain parts of it are not true. John Gilmore has spent years in research for the creation of this exciting book.

Gilmore has interviewed friends, family members, victims and others who had firsthand knowledge of the infamous duo. He has written an account that reads as if he was there with them as they were growing into the characters that the world remembers today.

Authentic and factual, this work shows their flaws and their luck as they were able to have a two year run as the most wanted couple in America. There were even rumors that they were in Georgia at one point, but I haven’t been able to back that up.

You might be well off to grab a copy of this and read it before watching the mini-series coming up in December.

There is a brief description of Gilmore’s other books in the back and I’m sure you will find something of interest if you are a reader of Noir or true crime. From Manson and the Black Dahlia to John Holmes and Spade Cooley, Gilmore has written about them all.

This one comes highly recommended and is not to be missed.
