Press Release from Solaris

4 April 2011

Dragon Apocalypse series comes to Solaris

Three exciting new titles from American fantasy author James Maxey have become the latest acquisition by Solaris, in a deal with John Berlyne at the Zeno Literary Agency.

Greatshadow, Hush and Sorrow each form part of the Dragon Apocalypse trilogy, a fantasy series packed full of action, magic, memorable characters and dragons.

Greatshadow will be published in February 2012, with Hush following in July of the same year and Sorrow hitting shelves in the spring of 2013. All the titles will also be available in eBook format.

About the author

James Maxey is the author of three previous novels for Solaris: Bitterwood, Dragonseed and Dragonforge, as well as the writer behind the super-hero novel Nobody Gets The Girl.

Jonathan Oliver, Solaris editor-in-chief, said:
“It’s a delight to welcome back James to the Solaris fold. I was a big fan of his Bitterwood series of fantasy novels and it’s great to see more from this talented writer. James has to be one of the most innovative and entertaining writers of dragon fantasy around.”

James Maxey said:
Greatshadow is my most ambitious work to date, simultaneously an epic dragon hunt, a heist novel, a ghost story, and a love story, all blended with a bit of the comic-book inspired action I love. After I met Jonathan Oliver at World Fantasy last year I realised he was a perfect editor to help bring my vision into print.”

Agent John Berlyne said:
“Greatshadow is a complete riot… fantasy super heroes, terrifying dragons and a deliciously unorthodox protagonist. I loved this high energy fusion of traditional fantasy colliding with X-Men. It’s huge, seat-of-the pants fun.”
